I recently had the pleasure of reading Tu Success! A Journey from Pain to Purpose by Mariatu Browne. We met through a mutual interest in entrepreneurship and I was excited to learn more about her story, especially as I am also interested in writing memoirs of families that immigrated to the United States.

This book is a powerful memoir that chronicles Tu’s journey from overcoming personal struggles to achieving her goals. What struck me most was her honesty and self-awareness. She doesn’t shy away from sharing challenges she faced or acknowledging poor decisions; her vulnerability inspires me and motivates me to learn and move forward from errors in my own judgment.

The book also highlights a beautiful balance between confidence and a willingness to seek support. Tu demonstrates strength and determination, but she also recognizes the value of accepting help on family, friends, and community. This resonated with me as an aspiring entrepreneur. I’m becoming more aware of resources available to those wanting to start their own businesses–but also learning that finding the best match in those resources and making the most of them is in itself hard work.

In describing details of her process, including stating “lessons learned” and including an appendix of resources, Tu demonstrates her commitment to giving back to the community of others on entrepreneurial journeys.

Overall, “Tu Success!” is a compelling story that will leave the reader inspired by Tu’s honesty, resourcefulness, intelligence, and commitment to being part of a mutually supportive community. I highly recommend this book for those looking for a story about overcoming adversity to build a better future, especially for those whose dreams include business ownership.

Reading this book was a wonderful experience. I identified with many of the struggles Tu went through. On the other hand, her perseverance to accomplish all her goals inspired me to continue with my accomplishments and never give up.

Tu’s Success is not just a book about entrepreneurship. It is a story of grit, pit falls, and resilience. From start to finish you walk along a younger version of Tu and you see God’s hand guiding her through every trench and darkness encountered. You see God molding her like clay to the inspiration she is today! A must read for every woman!

I read the book in one day. I would put it down and go and do something and go back. I finished reading it at 2:30 in the morning. This is a book for young girls to read and learn from. The sky is the limit for “Tu”.
